Can money REALLY buy happiness?
‘Happiness’ is a subjective term simply because it is a feeling. My question to you here is, can money REALLY buy happiness?
Being rich is not necessarily the path to happiness. Money is important in order to be happy, ask anyone who does not have it. Having a higher annual income, for example, can give us access to homes in safer neighborhoods, better health care facilities, fulfilling work and more leisure time. However, this works only up to a certain point. Most people assume that ‘things’ will lead to more happiness than
experiences- having the latest iPhone, car or handbag will last longer than lifetime experiences of lifetime. Science says money can buy happiness if you spend it the right way but what science or people for that matter do not understand how temporary this happiness is (materialistic). As a teenager I have
seen millions of posts and stories on social media captioned “who said money can’t buy happiness”, I think the caption should be ‘who Said money can’t buy temporary happiness’. How many of us will truly be happy with our lives if our luxuries are taken away? Thought so…. Yes I know we should find happiness in little but what about when the little things are gone, the money is gone, will we stop being happy? NO! Happiness is found in places that are secure, for example, people, spending time with your loved ones, laughing with them, looking at a baby giving birth and holding it in your arms for the very first time, saying ‘I do’, these are some moments of true happiness. Memories too bring us happiness, like our childhood/school days, first boyfriend/girlfriend , things you can laugh about in the future etc. Money cannot REALLY buy you happiness because it cannot buy people, love, it is a feeling and feelings cannot be bought and if any of you think they can, man is your heart made of stone or what? Even the richest of the richest people might not be happy.
