Validation

Namyata Nagda

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the most beautiful of them all? The mirror says to the Queen, "You my Majesty are the most beautiful of them all."

The mirror always said that because the Queen perceived herself the most beautiful until Snow White came to her life. Thus, began her journey to eternal jealousy and now even the mirror started telling her that Snow White is the most beautiful in the world. Suddenly, the game changed as the mirror began favoring Snow White over his Majesty.

What if people saw our beauty the way we perceive it?

What if they only saw what we see ourselves as?

Ever wondered that you've actually never seen yourself, and only known how you look like on the basis of mirrors and pictures?

What if mirror and pictures deceive us because we are never proud of ourselves?

Why don't we feed our souls instead of paying attention only to our fragile egos, which break when we perceive ourselves as ugly in the deceptive mirror?

When we seek validation from the outside world constantly, even our mirror starts to deceive us. The transformation of insecurity into jealousy leads us to our doom, in the forms of anxiety, depression, insomnia, eating disorders and sometimes even self harm and suicidal tendencies. Pictures start looking uglier to us but in fact, we are all beautiful in some way and if we dive deeper into our soul we'll know it. But, we never realize this and continue to search for someone who'll tell us how beautiful we are.

But what if that someone is us and nobody else?
